Andy Bone – Original Review
Note: This review is from 2003
Newcomer Bone's brand of anti-comedy non-jokes have a certain surreal appeal - but it's very short-lived.
Like John Thomson's Bernard Right-On character from a dozen years back, Bone starts with classic old-school feed lines, even down to "Knock, Knock", then subverts them with a mundane conclusion.
The problem is the formula is so obvious that once you've heard one, you've heard them all.
He tries to add variety by punctuating his set with song snippets, and occasionally breaking into impersonations of a football interview or a travelogue commentary. But these just smack of precocious showing off, rather than demonstrating any brilliant comedic insight.
Moderately amusing at best.
