When an act starts off with a 15-year-old Jo Brand gag, you know you're in trouble.

It's just one example of how Lauren lacks any distinctive angle, preferring instead to rely on safe, tried and tested material rather than risk having a viewpoint of his own.

He's got a strong stage presence, especially for one so new to the comedy circuit, but for all his assured command of the audience, his unexciting set amounts to very little indeed.
