Drew Barr – Original Review
Note: This review is from 2002
A warm, animated delivery can, unfortunately, do little to hide the paucity of the material here.
Though smileworthy, the bulk of his set doesn't really make an impact. And the main problem is the subject matter.
Routines about flying are the apex of hack material. In the US, the ubiquity of the airline food gag is a joke in itself. However, that does not stop Barr using an extended in-flight anecdote as the cornerstone of his set. Other topics are similarly tired old standards in the stand-up's armory.
Perhaps if he widened his horizons in the quest for comedy material, the quality of the content could match the quality of the delivery.
