With his bold and confident stage manner, Power initially looks like he is going to be an exciting act, unafraid to play with the conventions of stand-up.

However, the illusion is short-lived - and it soon becomes patently obvious that his playful interaction is merely froth, hiding an act woefully thin on substance and laughs.

For once he has grabbed the audience's attention - a skill he has mastered - he doesn't know what to do with it, and trolleys out some instantly forgettable material, virtually void of laughs.

Personality does go a long way in comedy, but there does have to be some grain of content on which to build ­ and this relative newcomer has yet to find even that.
