Doniert McFarlane – Original Review
Note: This review is from 2002
Take along your comedy bingo cards and tick off the hackneyed references in McFarlane's unoriginal stand-up by numbers - Bodyform adverts, Jamie Oliver, Robot Wars, cinema voiceovers. All the old faithfuls are there - even Noel Edmonds gets a namecheck.
Gags are too few and far between, too, as he spends too long talking around a subject rather than heading for the jokes.
He seems an amiable enough chap, at ease on the stage, despite his relative inexperience. But as a newcomer, his act is anything but new.
