Simon Bligh – Original Review

Review by Steve Bennett

Former teacher Bligh is one of those comics who has worked hard to achieve a perfectly polished 20 minute routine, and seems perfectly happy to stay on that plateau.

Not that he in any way seems bored with the material that he trots out night after night - far from it. This is a lesson in assured and animated delivery that always brings out the best in his material. The playful and enthusiastic matter is certainly infectious.

The set's strong, too, packed full of wonderfully memorable lines and ideas, even if the subjects are occasionally a little hackneyed, an inevitable consequence of sticking with the same material for years.

But with absolute mastery of the crowd, and a delivery that's nothing short of magnificent, it always sounds good, no matter how often you've heard it.
