Jason Byrne

Note: This review is from 2001

Review by Steve Bennett

Jason took an impressive command from the outset, casting his charms over the audience, and with razor-sharp observations he soon had the crowd in the palm of his hand.

The boyish-looking and charismatic Byrne used these traits to lull the audience into a false sense of comedic security as he gambolled along hoodwinking people into believing that this was a gentle, twee show.

But don't be deceived, Byrne is exceptionally funny and rarely takes his eye off the ball, going straight for the jugular at every opportunity.

He is quick-witted and involves the audience throughout but certainly makes it clear that he is running the show. The high level of energy and hysterical laughter rarely waned.

A definite must see for his 'baby doll in a blue satin dress' routine alone.
