Look which comic's name got spelled out on Countdown!

...and he was a former contestant

comedyIn a remarkable coincidence, the letters pulled out for one game on Countdown today was an anagram of a certain comedian’s name… 

The letters R, O, E, A, X, L, H, E and N were drawn by Rachel Riley for the contestants to try to make a word from.

They came up with the six-letter words ‘exhale and ‘hoaxer’, while in Dictionary Corner, Les Dennis and Susie Dent offered up the seven-letter ‘earhole’.

 But eagle-eyed Riley spotted the name of a certain Taskmaster host:

Horne has been in Dictionary Corner of 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown ten times with his band The Horne Section.

But he was also a contestant on the regular version of the show back in 2008, when it was hosted by Des O’Connor with Carol Vorderman in charge of the numbers and letters:
