Tat's a good omen!
The ultimate winner of this year’s Beat The Frog competition at Manchester’s Frog And Bucket already had the comedy club’s logo tattooed near his butt.
Stand-up Murph got inked to celebrate his triumph at one of the regular Monday-night new act gigs last December – on his 13th time of trying.
And last night,he took the gong show’s ‘World Series’ title, after showing his tattoo during his set. Afterwards, he joked that he would now have to have the full scene of him being presented with his prize inked across his back.
The panel prize chosen by industry judges, went to Shannon Griffiths, pictured below with Murph, who was also runner-up in the audience vote. The other finalists were Tabish Akbar, Sharifa Butterfly, Alfie Dundas, Donatas Kveselys, Ciara O'Connor, Bilal Rachid, Alex Redman and Maxine Wade.
Murph told Chortle today: ‘I started out by doing the Frog and Bucket Comedy Course and the show at the end of that course was my first performance.
‘I did Beat the Frog quite a few times but never won and told my mates if I ever won I'd get a tattoo of the logo because that's where I started, it's the local club and such an iconic venue. Plus they, particularly Aimee [Perry] who runs Beat The Frog, have been really supportive.
‘I think it was my 13th attempt when I finally won one. I only got gonged off twice but never won the clap-off until then.’
He got the design done at The Old Volt tattoo parlour near the venue and said: ‘‘The tattooist didn't say anything about it so he must have done weirder ones.’
But he has received some comments from other comics ‘joking that I shouldn't tell Hot Water about it’.

A full review of the final will appear on Chortle tomorrow.
