Comic's revelation... as the flat he and Amanda Holden renovated goes on the market

Alan Carr has revealed he always sleeps in his underwear because he sleepwalks… and he doesn’t want a repeat of a very embarrassing incident.

The comedian revealed he once ended up in a woman’s hotel room while wandering around – but luckily she was very understanding.

‘I sleep walk,’ he said on Alan and Amanda’s Italian Job, ‘I have done it loads of times. I did it recently. I ended up in a woman’s room in Harrogate. I remember the woman going "arrggh".

‘Apparently she was a fan and was really sweet about it. That’s why I always sleep in pants in case I sleepwalk.’

Meanwhile, a flat in Salemi, Sicily,  that he and Amanda Holden renovated on the show is now on sale for €145,000 (about £128,323). It was originally bought for  €1 as part of an Italian government scheme to breathe new life into rural communities and is now listed on Rightmove.

The apartment has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, as well as a lounge, dining room and kitchen, and three balconies as well as comes with a shared, walled courtyard which the listing says is ‘perfect for al fresco dining or just enjoying the Mediterranean sunshine’.

All proceeds from the sale of the house will be donated to Comic Relief and Children in Need.

The series attracted 4.5 million viewers and the BBC is planning a second run next year.
