No pressure, then!
Talk about a high-pressure gig…
For the last couple of months, American comic Alex Edelman has been performing his stand-up show Just For Us at the intimate Cherry Lane Theatre in New York’s Greenwich Village.
And then Jerry Seinfeld shows up…
Edelman – an Edinburgh Fringe and Radio 4 regular – said it was ‘like if Michael Jordan came to my youth basketball game’.
He posted three pictures of himself with the sitcom legend, and thanked both Jerry and his wife Jessica for coming, adding: ‘Means the world. Can’t believe it.'
Just For Us revolves around Edelman going undercover to attend a gathering of white supremacists after receiving a deluge of anti-Semitic abuse.
The show, backed by comic Mike Birbiglia and directed by Adam Brace of London's Soho Theatre, was originally scheduled to run through December, but was extended to last Saturday. Last week, it was announced that it would return to New York for an off-Broadway run at the SoHo Playhouse from March 14 to April 23.
In it, Edelman also talks about living in the shadow of his Olympian brother AJ, and Koko, the gorilla that can do sign language.
