The double act that'll change every day
Here’s something of a challenge. How do you perform a double act when only one of you is there?
That’s the dilemma facing Jon & Nath at this year’s Fringe.
Citing ‘personal reasons’ Jon Levene will miss the opening few performances of Jon & Nath Like To Party at the festival.
And their answer is to draft in substitutes, with a new comedian taking the role each day until the duo are reunited.
The stand-in will receive the script at show time and have to battle through the best they can.
Levene – who has been working with Nathan Lang for 15 years said: ‘Sometimes life can be a total bastard and it is almost impossible to quantify the pain and sadness I feel not being able to make it for the opening of the Fringe.
‘As an integral part of this show, I take comfort in Nath’s assurances he will have no problem replacing me with literally anyone.‘
Lang added: ‘Jon and I have always joked about this situation coming about, but I have to say it’s a dream come true. Finally, a chance to spread my wings and fly.
‘And what could be more spirit of the Fringe than leaving your partner in the shit by not even turning up? Jon & Nath Like To Party will most likely be better without Jon, but it would break his heart to hear that, so if any press come, I respectfully ask that they give us a really bad review.’
Jon’s stand-in for the opening show at the Three Sisters on Thursday will be Mark Dean Quinn, a member of the Weirdos collective.
