Could Ghosts become a movie?
Is Ghosts about to become a movie?
The Daily Star today reports that a big-screen version of the hit BBC comedy is in the works, with filming set to start ‘within months’.
However the paper cites no production company or director involved and says only that the stars of the original ‘are expected’ to return.
An unnamed ‘insider’ told the paper that a script has been written and the project has been greenlit, with some of the original cast signed up.
Most of the cast are also the creators and writers of the series: Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond.
However, Charlotte Ritchie and Kiell Smith-Bynoe – who play the owners of haunted Button House – and Lolly Adefope, who plays ghost Kitty, are not involved in the writing.
The original ended last Christmas after five series, but not before spawning a successful US spin-off that has already run for four seasons and more episodes than the BBC version.
German, French, Australian and Greek remakes are also in the works.
Whether a big-screen version is more than wishful thinking from the tabloid which today splashed with Brian Blessed’s tips on escaping a yeti attack remain to be seen…
