Rowan Atkinson makes Man Vs Bee follow-up

Comic back with Man Vs Baby

Rowan Atkinson is to make a follow-up to his physical comedy series Man Vs Bee - with his character now given charge of a baby.

The four-part Netflix series – which has already gone into production – reunites the Mr Bean star with Will Davies as co-writer and co-creator, and will again be directed by David Kerr

The streamer teased the series by posting a cryptic social media message, superimposing Atkinson’s head on to four movie and TV scenes, including Sex Education and Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget.

While the 2022 original was split into nine mini-episodes of around ten minute each, the new series will comprise more conventional half-hour episodes.

The synopsis of Man Vs Baby reads: ‘After a disastrous experience housesitting a high-tech mansion hampered by an inconvenient insect in Man vs Bee, Trevor Bingley (Rowan Atkinson) now finds himself looking after a luxurious London penthouse, with another unlikely companion he didn’t ask for…’

Man Vs Bee – whose co-stars included Julian Rhind-Tutt, Greg McHugh and Tom Basden - was generally favourably received by critics, with  aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes reporting that 74 per cent of reviews were positive

The series was viewed for 18.2 million hours across its opening weekend in June 2022, ranking 10th globally on Netflix for the week.

But last year The Sun reported that Man Vs Bee had been cancelled, with Netflix having ‘no plans’ for a second season or any additional episodes. Today’s news shows that was off the mark.
