Filming starts on Jordan Gray’s sitcom Transaction

Co-starring Nick Frost

Filming has finally begun on Jordan Gray’s sitcom Transaction  – more than two years after it was first announced.

In the six-part ITV series, the comedian plays an egomaniac transgender supermarket worker who realises she’s a diversity hire who can’t be sacked so causes chaos among her coworkers.

Nick Frost co-stars as supermarket manager Simon with Two Doors Down’s Doon Mackichan, Peacock’s Thomas Gray and The Witcher’s Francesca Mills also having roles.

The series is being made by Stolen Picture, the company Frost set up with his frequent collaborator Shaun Pegg.

It was first announced in summer 2022, before Gray caused a storm by stripping naked on Channel 4’s revival of Friday Night. But filming has only just started on the project, The Sun reports tongiht, in a story that Gray retweeted.

The show started life a series of Comedy Central shorts four years ago, (pictured above) which racked up 2.5million views online.

When they launched, Gray –  who first found fame as a contestant on The Voice in 2016 – said the character was ‘a manipulative but charismatic asshole’ – and ‘basically me without any self-awareness’.

And she has joked: ‘My one true goal with this show is to create something as timeless as my implants.’

Transaction will be the first British sitcom to feature a trans lead actor since BBC Two's groundbreaking Boy Meets Girl, starring Rebecca Root, ran in 2015 and 2016.
