Joe Rogan to release his first special in six years
Joe Rogan is to release his first stand-up special in six years, contentiously titled Burn The Boats.
The show will air live on Netflix from the Majestic Theater in San Antonio, Texas, on August 3 – but the time difference means it will be 3am on August 4 in the UK.
The streaming platform has released a teaser trailer for the show with the controversial podcaster saying :’Don’t get mad at me, you know why you came here. … Jokes, folks. Just jokes.’ However there are no jokes in the clip.
Elon Musk welcomed the special, saying it was ‘cool’, while fellow X user CryptoCoach said: ‘I can’t wait!’’
Rogan himself said: ‘I’m very pumped for this and I hope you enjoy it.’
Burn The Boats is being directed by Anthony Giordano, a specialist in broadcasting UFC fights who has also helmed four of Rogan’s previous specials, including his last one, 2018’s Strange Times.
Rogan’s hugely successful Spotify podcast has been criticised for spreading misinformation about Covid-19 and for Rogan’s use of the n-word, which the comic later admitted was ‘regretful and shameful’. And last year he was accused of antisemitism when he said: ‘The idea that Jewish people are not into money is ridiculous.’
