Revealed: Britain's best comedy venues and clubs 2024

As voted by you in the Chortle Awards

Today we announce the venue and clubs that have won Chortle Comedy Awards this year.

The news comes ahead of the comedians’ awards, to be revealed in a ceremony in London on Monday night, hosted by Arthur Smith and Olga Koch.

More than 7,000 readers voted in the awards, which are now in their 23rd year.

The venue winners are:

BEST COMEDY VENUE

London: Big Belly, Vauxhall

North: Frog & Bucket, Manchester

South And East: The Forge, Brighton

Midlands and West: Birmingham Glee

Wales: Cardiff Glee

Scotland: Monkey Barrel, Edinburgh

BEST PRO COMEDY NIGHT

London: 99 Club at Saw Swee Hock, Covent Garden

North: XS Malarkey, Manchester

South And East: Little Smash, Southend

Midlands and West: White Bear Comedy Club, Bristol

Scotland: Spandex Comedy Club, Edinburgh

BEST COMEDY FORMAT

London: Quantum Leopard, diverse, non-confrontational comedy night, with audience members wearing stickers to indicate that they are happy interacting with a performer

South And East: Down The Hatch Comedy Club, queer and alternative comedy at Brighton Komedia

Midlands and West: People's Comedy, a political, social and cultural comedy night in Bristol

BEST OPEN MIC NIGHT

London: Comedy Bandits, Clapham

South And East: Comic Boom at the Komedia, Brighton

The North: Beat The Frog, Manchester

Scotland: Open Comedy, Leith

In other regions in the last two categories, no night garnered enough votes to be declared a clear winner.
