LONDON: Lucy & Friends offers a wild, outrageous ride through the mind of powerhouse cabaret performance artist Lucy McCormick. She begins a run of this show unlike any other at the Soho Theatre tonight, ending on March 16, attempting to create community through a celebration of silliness.  Read our review from last year's Edinburgh Fringe here.

MANCHESTER: One of the best debuts at last year's Edinburgh Fringe, Dan Tiernan's intense Going Under show comes to the Frog and Bucket tonight, Edinburgh's Monkey Barrel tomorrow and Glasgow's Stand on Sunday.

CHELMSFORD: There's a good night in store at The Lion Inn, featuring two comics who did rather well on Britain's Got Talent – funny magician Mandy Muden and gag-rich storyteller Markus Birdman – along with highly entertaining musical comic Rob Deering.

BRISTOL: Political journalist and Times Radio presenter Matt Chorley goes on tour with his third stand-up tour, Poll Dancer, focussing on the goings-on in Westminster. Matt Chorley tour dates.

Saturday March 2

LONDON: A big night of comedy at Islington's Union Chapel tonight with Bridget Christie – creator of Channel 4 comedy The Change – brilliantly off-the-wall musical comic David O'Doherty, and sharply sardonic Rhys James.

LONDON: And at Earth in Hackney there's a double-bill of high-octane comedy with Olga Koch's hilariously confessional Prawn Cocktail and Helen Bauer's force-of-nature celebration of the women, Grand Supreme Darling Princess

CANTERBURY: The Marlowe Theatre hosts a very strong night of stand-up, courtesy of Desiree Burch, Harriet Kemsley, Jen Brister and Sindhu Vee.

Sunday March 3

LONDON: The all-day Chortle Comedy Book festival at the British Library features the likes of Ed Gamble, Lou Sanders,Sara Pascoe, Cariad Lloyd, Tim Key, Robin Ince, Doon Mackichan and Bob Cryer talking about his much-loved father Barry. Full details and tickets here.
