Katherine Ryan, Sue Perkins and Dara O Briain do Desert Island Discs live
Katherine Ryan, Sue Perkins and Dara O Briain are to take part in a stage version of Desert Island Discs.
The long-running Radio 4 interview programme – which first aired in 1942 – is to grace the stage of the London Palladium for three nights in March.
Lauren Laverne will be joined by Ryan and Perkins on March 25, O Briain and Lemn Sissay on March 26 and Russell T Davies and Ellie Simmonds on the final night of the run.
All have previously appeared on the radio version, picking the songs they would like to have with them were they cast away on an isolated islands.
When O Briain appeared on the show last year he spoke about tracing his birth parents, after watching the 2013 film Philomena, starring Judi Dench and Steve Coogan
His tracks then included songs by Prince, Gloria Estefan and Deee-Lite, while the book he’d choose was The Feynman Lectures on Physics by Richard Feynman and his luxury item was astrophotography equipment
Ryan appeared on the show in October, picking tracks by The Spice Girls, Eminem and Madonna, while picking a hat and skincare set as her luxury item.
In a 2017 episode, Perkins spoke about finding comedy at Cambridge, coming out in her 20s and discovering a brain tumour while filming a TV show. Her tracks included T. Rex’s Twentieth Century Boy because it reminded her of Mel Giedroyc, her comedy partner.
The London Palladium shows are a commercial venture produced by live entertainment giants AEG Presents, licensed by the BBC.
Tickets go on general sale on Wednesday from www.aegpresents.co.uk/event/desert-island-discs.
