Pleasance announces a new batch of Edinburgh Fringe 2022 shows
Tim Vine, Nick Mohammed, Nick Helm and Jayde Adams are among the comics to have announced new Edinburgh Fringe shows today.
The biggest batch of 2022 festival shows will go on sale via the Fringe box office on Thursday, but many of the bigger venues put their tickets on sale earlier.
First out of the gate today is the Pleasance, which has released scores of new shows.
Among them are Indian comic Vir Das, fresh off an Emmy nomination for his latest Netflix stand-up special, with his new tour Wanted; Mary Beth Barone of Comedy Central’s Drag His Ass; and Tim Key with his lockdown-inspired show Mulberry. Mohammed will be back in character as Mr Swallow, mixing new and old material.
Other comedians returning to the fringe include Glenn Moore, Fin Taylor, Alison Spittle Matt Forde, Njambi McGrath, Kwame Asante, Tom Rosenthal, Yuriko Kotani, Simon Brodkin, Red Richardson, Lucy Porter Luke Kempner, Tessa Coates, Sara Barron, Brennan Reece and Ciarán Dowd who will be performing as King Rodolfo
For the 75th birthday of the Edinburgh Fringe Arthur Smith writes a love letter to this ‘playground of the imagination’ and recalls some of the triumphs, disasters, love affairs and arrests of his many Augusts.
Newcomers at the Pleasance include Chloe Petts, Chortle award-winner Rosie Holt with a show based on her hit satirical videos; Chortle best newcomer Celya AB; Rich Hardisty; Bella Hull; Sam Lake; Katie Pritchard and Frankie Thompson (with a one-woman adaptation of Cats The Musical).
Fresh from their BBC Three pilot, Charly Clive and Ellen Robertson make a return to the Fringe with a sketch show about love in Britney: Friends and Nothing Mores; while Rachel Fairburn and Kiri Pritchard-McLean bring their true crime podcast to the Edinburgh Fringe, too.
Chortle will also be back presenting the festival institution Fast Fringe, in which 12 top comedy and variety acts perform ridiculously short sets in one furiously fast-paced showcase.
This week masks the third release of new Edinburgh Fringe shows– and the last for which they were eligible for an early-bird discount. The next batch will go on sale in the week starting June 6, with future shows added on a rolling basis from the end of June until the festival kicks off.
