A good sign! Comedy venue hire BSL interpreter
The Komedia venue in Bath to start offering a British Sign Language interpreter at some of its comedy gigs.
Paul Mancini will be signing one Krater Comedy Club night every two months, plus a drag queen bingo night in May.
The interpreter, who has worked with Slapstick Festival Bristol, will also be teaching bar and events staff some BSL basics so they can better help deaf punters.
A spokesman for the venue said: ‘It’s vital to make our events programme available and enjoyable to as many people as possible, and this is a step towards that goal.
‘In future, we hope to be able to increase the number of signed shows on offer, but to begin with, we have chosen some of our most popular events.’
The stand-up nights with a BSL interpreter will be on Saturday February 26, Saturday April 30, Saturday June 25, Saturday August 27 and Saturday October 29, plus Drag Queen Bingo with Charlie Hides on Wednesday May 11.
