New cast announced for Good Omens series 2
Pete Firman, Andi Osho, Toast Of Tinseltown’s Tim Downie and Two Doors Down actor Alex Norton are all joining the second series of Good Omens.
The cast for the second series of Neil Gaiman’s fantasy series has today been revealed, with many of the original stars returning.
They include The League of Gentlemen trio of Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith, plus Derek Jacobi, Jon Hamm, Miranda Richardson and Doon Mackichan.
Stage star Sian Phillips is also joining the cast, according to industry website Deadline – but Benedict Cumberbatch and Frances McDormand won’t be back.
Gaiman said: ‘We are so thrilled that we were able to get so many fabulous actors to return to the Good Omens family. Some of them are reprising roles, some of them are playing completely new characters. And we are just as thrilled by the people coming to the Good Omens team for the first time.
‘We have an ensemble cast of astonishing talent, and seeing what they’re giving us is a daily treat. I can’t wait until the rest of the world gets that treat, too.’
Last year, Chortle reported how comedian and Silent Witness star Liz Carr will play an angel called Saraqael.
The roles the new cast are playing on the show, which is currently filming in Scotland, have not yet been revealed.
The second series – based on the novel Gaiman wrote with Terry Pratchett – will chart the further adventures of the demon Crowley, as played by David Tennant, and the angel Aziraphale, Michael Sheen. Having thwarted the Apocalypse in series one, they now return to easy living amongst mortals in Soho when ‘an unexpected messenger presents a surprising mystery’.
