Scotland scraps Covid rules on comedy gigs

(Except for facemasks)

Almost all Covid restrictions affecting comedy gigs in Scotland are to be lifted from Monday.

Restrictions on numbers and one-metre distancing at indoor public events are to be scrapped, as is the requirement for table service.

First Minister  Nicola Sturgeon told the Scottish Parliament that rules brought in to combat the Omicron variant are no longer needed as the nation is on a ‘downward trend’ with regards to Covid.

But she said baseline coronavirus measures which were in place before the Omicron wave will remain. She told MSPs: ‘That means face coverings must still be worn in public indoor settings and on public transport.’

Nightclubs will also be allowed to reopen from Monday.
