Hannah Rose to work out of Salford as Corporation shifts away from London

The BBC has created a new comedy commissioner, to be based in Salford.

The appointment of Hannah Rose to the job comes as the corporation pledges to shift more of its activities out of London.

Director-general Tim Davie today set out plans to make more shows out of the capital, with a commitment that at least 100 new and returning comedy and drama programmes over the next three will ‘reflect the lives and communities of audiences outside London’

Rose currently works at BBC Sounds, where she has developed shows with the likes of  James Acaster, Sofie Hagen, Jacob Hawley and Alison Spittle, and will take up her position on April 12.

Shane Allen, the BBC’s director of comedy commissioning said: ‘Hannah lives and breathes comedy, her formidable experience on the live comedy scene coupled with her impressive portfolio of work at BBC Sounds make her a highly prized addition to the team.
