'Stompy... but such stamina!'
Bill Bailey and Oti Mabuse scored the second-lowest score on Strictly Come Dancing tonight.
But their ranking of 24 out of 30 was still respectable, and put them five points clear of last-placed Clara Amfo and Aljaž Škorjanec.
Two other couples also scored 24, and three more scored higher
After the 55-year-old comic and his pro partner danced a jive to the Blondie hit One Way Or Another, head judge Shirley Ballas said: ‘There were a couple of mistakes... but your stamina at your age is off the chart.’
Motsi Mabuse, Oli’s sister, added that Bailey was a role model for many men watching the show, saying: ‘That was 100 per cent energy from the beginning to the end.’
And Craig Revel Horwood said: ‘I thought it was a bit stompy,’ but added: ‘You have your own style and I adore it.’
Each of the judges awarded an 8.
After the dance, Bailey said of the errors: ‘I managed to pick it up and we got through.’
The couple to leave the show will be announced in the results programme from 7.25pm on BBC One tomorrow.
