Sarah Kendall’s Frayed heads to the US

HBO Max buys 80s-set comedy

Sarah Kendall’s comedy Frayed is to air in the US.

Her  1980s-set show, in which she plays a wealthy Londoner as she travels back to the suburban Australian home she escaped as a teen, is to launch on HBO Max on July 30.

The show premiered on Sky One in the UK in September with 155,000 viewers and Australia’s ABC the following month with 440,000. Co-stars include Matt Passmore, Kerry Armstrong, Ben Mingay, George Houvardas, Diane Morgan, Rufus Jones and Robert Webb.

HBO Max is to launch in the States on May 27 and has unveiled the start dates of many series, including  the three-part Amy Schumer  tour documentary, Expecting Amy,(July 9) and Seth Rogen’s comedy feature, An American Pickle (August 6)

As previously announced, Jamie Demetriou’s letting agency sitcom Stath Lets Flats and BBC ensemble comedy Ghosts will also be available on the platform at launch, along with Ricky Gervais’s original version of The Office
