Revealed: New show from Murder In Successville team

Action Team is 'Naked Gun meets The Bourne Identity'

ITV2 has commissioned Action Team, a new comedy from the team behind Murder In Successville.

It is a scripted spoof spy action-thriller series following the exploits of a team of special agents working for the British government.

Tom Davis will again star, after writing the show with Murder In Successville director James De Frond, who will direct this, too.

Jim Howick, currently appearing in Channel 4’s Loaded, will also star alongside Kayode Ewumi and Laura Checkley.

Six half-hour episodes have been commissioned by ITV’s  Paul Mortimer,  and Saskia Schuster, who described the show as ‘The Naked Gun meets The Bourne Identity’.

Davis said: ‘Every year I sit there as the bookies predict who they think will play the next James Bond and I’m always left off the list, so I’ve decided to do something about it.’

Mortimer said: ‘Tom and James have a great track record in delivering hit comedy and we’re thrilled to be partnering with them on their latest series.’

The show will be made by new production company Shiny Button,  founded by De Frond, Davis and executive producer  Andy Brereton.

Yesterday it was announced that the production company behind Murder In Successville, Tiger Aspect, were to make a new daytime BBC One show, Armchair Detectives, which combines a murder-mystery drama. Twenty 45-minute episodes were ordered.
