Who is the biggest-selling comedian of the year?
Micky Flanagan is the biggest-selling artist of 2016.
He tops the chart of not just comedians, but all genres of entertainment, based on tickets sold via the Ents24 website.
In fact, six of the top ten biggest-selling shows are from comedians.
Flanagan is No 1 for presales of his An’ Another Fing tour, which kicks off in May (Dates). Second on both the comedy and the overall list is Good Mourning Mrs Brown.
The top ten comedy sellers based on sales figures from January 1 to 21 are:
1. Micky Flanagan
2. Good Mourning Mrs Brown
3. Greg Davies
4. Billy Connolly
5. John Bishop.
6. Peter Kay’s Dance For Life (This is counted on the comedy-sellers list, though it’s a DJ set from Kay)
7. Jack Whitehall
8. Kevin Bloody Wilson
9. Sean Lock
10. Catherine Tate.
Across all genres, the top 5 are
1. Micky Flanagan
2. Good Mourning Mrs Brown
3. Marvel Universe Live
4. Greg Davies
5. The Specials.
Then Connolly, Bishop, Ocean Colour Scene, Disney On Ice: Frozen and Peter Kay’s Dance For Live.
The chart follows other research from Ents 24 which last week found Romesh Ranganathan was the hardest-working comedian in the UK, based on the number of different venues where he performed his solo show.
The website also makes a list of the ‘most popular’ comedy acts, based on users signing up for information about them.
Flanagan again tops that list, followed by 2. Peter Kay, 3. Michael McIntyre, 4. Mrs Brown’s Boys, 5. Jon Richardson, 6. John Bishop, 7. Paul Chowdhry, 8. Billy Connolly, 9. Greg Davies and 10. Sean Lock.
