Rhod Gilbert to host The Apprentice: You're Fired
Rhod Gilbert is to host The Apprentice spin-off show You're Fired.
The Welsh comedian will take over from Jack Dee, who announced he was quitting earlier this year.
Meanwhile, the Radio Times is reporting that regular Romesh Ranganathan is also leaving the BBC Two spin-off.
Gilbert said: ‘As a massive fan of The Apprentice, I can’t wait to start hosting You’re Fired. As someone who has been fired from 24 jobs in six series of my BBC work experience show [Rhod Gilbert's Work Experience], I feel I have what it takes to empathise with the candidates who’ve been so cruelly rejected, and provide a shoulder for them to cry on.’
He previously hosted the last ever series of Never Mind The Buzzcocks, while other TV appearances include Live at the Apollo, Have I Got News For You? and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.
You’re Fired will, as usual, air immediately after the main BBC One episode once the series returns this October
Kate Phillips, the BBC's entertainment commissioning controller, called Gilbert ‘a natural and accomplished presenter as well as a brilliant comic,’ adding: ‘He’s perfect for the role.’
Ranganathan will not be missing from screens this autumn, though, as the second series of his travelogue Asian Provocateur will be back on BBC Three in mid-October.
In this series, he travels with mum Shanthi to North America to visit relatives they’ve never met.
