FRANKIE BOYLE and Greg Davies have been nominated for a ‘comedian of the year’ award – almost three years since each last toured. The pair have both been shortlisted by rock magazine Kerrang! in their 2015 awards, even though Davies’ last tour The Back Of My Mum’s Head and Boyle’s The Last Days Of Sodom, both launched in 2012. Making up the shortlist are Jack Whitehall, Noel Fielding and Russell Howard. Winners will be announced on June 11

JOHN CLEESE has joined the cast of fantasy film Albion, Rise Of The Danan. The comic will play the villain, a tyrannical leader, Hollywood website Deadline reports. Debra Messing also joined the cast as his queen.

THE Simpsons has been renewed for two more series – seasons 27 and 28 – which will take the show up to 625 episodes in total. The 26th season is currently airing.

AND the IFC network has renewed comedian Scott Aukerman’s awkward interview series Comedy Bang! Bang! for a fifth season, with 20 new episodes due to air in 2016.

RUSSELL BRAND’s podcast is to be broadcast on Australia’s Triple M radio station from tonight,at 9pm AEST. The show is made for the Audioboom podcast platform and has also airs on XFM in the UK.
