The model sitcom...

Comedy Central pilots glamorous comedy

Comedy Central is piloting a new sitcom about an overweight British bloke who shares a Miami apartment with three hot models.

Unambiguously titled I Live With Models, the script has been written by Jon Foster and James Lamont, whose credits include The Harry Hill Movie and the new Paddington film. They are also working on Matt Lucas’s new physical comedy series, Pompidou.

Lead character Tommy is described as a ‘chubby barista who dreams of stardom’ who is propelled into the fringes of the US fashion industry when he is discovered as a hand model. He winds up living with three roommates: a tough-talking catalogue model, a muscled lothario and a neurotic catwalk diva.

A pilot is being shot in front of a studio audience later this month by Ash Atalla’s Roughcut TV, and produced by Seb Barwell. Casting has not yet been announced.

Comedy Central has increasingly been making its own shows since establishing itself as a home for US imports, starting with the sitcom Threesome three years ago. It most recently signed a deal with Russell Howard for more than 20 hours of shows, including stand-up and travelogue.
