Buress lands major US TV deal

Hannibal Buress has signed a major deal with America’s Comedy Central.

The cable network has will make a pilot of the comic’s sitcom, film his hour-long stand-up special and fund a nationwide tour.

Plus he will get a a recurring acting role on the upcoming comedy Broad City to help raise his profile.

Buress told The Hollywood Reporter: ‘It’s a bunch of things that I like to do, and they were able to put it together in an all-encompassing deal.’

Details of his pilot are scant, but it is said to be unscrpited.

Buress, who appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2011 and 2012, has previously been a writer on Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock, in which he also appeared.

Comedy Central original programming president Kent Alterman said: ‘Hannibal is one of the most original voices in comedy right now, and he’s talented in a multifaceted way.’
