Green light for US Gavin & Stacey remake

Us & Them airs in the autumn

The US remake of Gavin & Stacey has been picked up for a full series.

Fox has announced that its version, Us & Them, will air in the autumn.

The couple at the centre of the comedy will be played by Jason Ritter from Parenthood and Alexis Bledel from Gilmore Girls. It will also feature Malcolm In The Middle star Jane Kaczmarek as Pam, the overbearing mother of Gavin originally played by Alison Steadman; and Dustin Ybarra in James Corden’s role as Smithy.

Gavin & Stacey creators James Corden and Ruth Jones are executive producers of the remake – which had originally been called Friends and Family – and stand to make a small fortune if the show becomes a hit.

The series is a collaboration between BBC Worldwide, the corporation’s commercial arm, and Sony Pictures Television, who will distribute it internationally and in the UK

Also announced for the autumn season was Dads, a sitcom from Family Guy’s Seth McFarlane starring Seth Green and Giovanni Ribisi as best friends whose dads move in with them.
