A good Mark

Thomas honours tickets as venue shuts

Mark Thomas is to be left out of pocket after the venue where he was due to perform tomorrow night closed without notice.

The Brewhouse in Taunton shut today, after 25 years, when Somerset County Council cut its funding.

Ticket-holders to future shows, including Thomas’s Bravo Figaro, would have lost their money, while Thomas is unlikely to get any cash owed to him as the venue goes into administration.

However, he has found a new venue for his show,Junction 24, just outside nearby Bridgewater for tomorrow.

He said he will honour all tickets brought for the Brewhouse and said: ‘If you were going to collect your tickets from the Brewhouse just turn up and look honest and you'll get in.’

He added: ‘Here is the awkward bit. I am losing money on this gig because my tech manager and tour manager don't work for free and neither should they. So bring a mate and get a ticket on the door, it helps keep me in obscure punk and weird jazz CDs’
