Threemendous!
Comedy Central show Threesome has won the Montreux Comedy Award for best sitcom.
The show, about three friends bringing up a baby, won ahead of HBO’s Girls and other nominees from Germany and Austria.
Series creator and writer Tom MacRae said: ‘I feel like the proudest parent ever! Our little baby went off to Switzerland and showed Montreux exactly what British comedy can do; crawl along the floor bumping into things until they give you a prize for it. I'm so grateful to our wonderful cast and crew, and to Comedy Central who support our Threesome family so lovingly.’
Star Amy Huberman who plays Alice added: ‘Absolutely thrilled for our Threesome. It's such a delight to work on such a brilliant show.’
Jill Offman, managing director of Comedy Central UK, said: It’s great that our wonderful show is getting the recognition it deserves. Threesome was our first narrative comedy and we’re proud to count the wonderful writers and cast as part of the Comedy Central team.’
The award was given out at the Swiss city’s comedy festival – a separate event from the international TV festival that awards the prestigious Rose D’Or accolade.
Threesome, which is made by Big Talk Productions, has also been nominated for best multichannel programme in the Broadcast Awards, which will be handed out in January.
It is Comedy Central’s third most watch show behind imported blockbusters Two And A Half Men and Charlie Sheen’s Anger Management.
