It's not occurring
An American remake of Gavin & Stacey is very unlikely to make it to air, co-creator Ruth Jones has admitted.
The Fox network has commissioned a pilot script – Jones she warned fans not to get too excited as it’s the third time that has happened.
‘I want to stamp out this idea that there's going to be this American Gavin & Stacey,’ said Jones, who also played Nessa in the BBC show. ‘All they've done is commission a script, they might not even make a pilot.’
She told Radio 1’s Newsbeat: ‘It's the third time it's happened and I have no idea why all of a sudden it's all over the press.
‘NBC had a script made of it, ABC had a script and it was going to go to a pilot and then they dropped it, and now Fox have commissioned a script and that is all that has happened.’
She added that she was ‘gobsmacked’ over the hype surrounding the mere possibility of an American remake, which could net her and co-creator James Corden millions if it actually goes ahead.
‘I mean it could happen, but I could win the lottery,’ she said. ‘It’s literally like that at the moment.’
