Ker-ching!
Edinburgh Comedy Award-winner Humphry Ker is being lined up to front a new panel show for ITV2.
The comic will be hosting a pilot episode of Would You Rather? – in which celebrity panellists are asked which is the lesser of two hypothetical evils.
It is a remake of a show Graham Norton hosted in the States last year – but according to trade magazine Broadcast, the tone of the UK show will be ‘extremely adult’ compared with the US original, with a lot of sexual questions.
The pilot will be shot by Norton’s So Television in London tomorrow, with the hope of it being picked up for a series.
If it is commissioned, it would be a major breakthrough for Old Etonian Ker, whose TV appearances to date have mainly been in ensemble sketch shows such as Live At The Electric – although he was also a guest on Have I Got News For You earlier this year. Ker won the Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Award for best newcomer last year, with his show Humphrey Ker is...Dymock Watson: Nazi Smasher!
The original Would You Rather? was one of the first original programmes to be made for BBC America, and ran for 13 episodes, with guests including Whoopi Goldberg, Cyndi Lauper and Eugene Mirman. It was well-received by critics.
