Now it's Brand XL

Russell's US series gets recommissioned – and extended

Russell Brand’s American TV show has been extended for another series.

And this time around the FX station has commissioned more episodes – 13 as opposed to seven in the current second run – and extended the running time from 30 minutes to an hour.

Brand X with Russell Brand ends its current run on FX tomorrow night with its first one-hour episode – then comes back in that format from February.

The network has also ordered another 13 episodes of its other late-night comedy show, Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell.

‘We’re proud to have two of the most strikingly original and funny voices in late night as part of the FX comedy lineup,’ said fox executive Nick Grad.

‘Russell’s irrepressible energy and unique style have made BrandX a daring show where anything can happen. Kamau is one of the sharpest, smartest and funniest comedians in the business.’

Brand hit the headlines earlier this month when he invited members of the hate-spreading fundamentalist Westboro Baptist Church on to the show, to tell his audience that Gandhi had gone to Hell.

Brand X is shown on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
