Kevin Bridges' double disappointment

...as Mrs Brown takes Scottish Bafta

Kevin Bridges lost out to Mrs Brown Boys at last night’s Scottish Baftas.

The stand-up had been up for two awards – for best comedy entertainment series and best writer – for his BBC One series What's The Story?

But in the series category he lost out to Irishman Brendan O'Carroll's sitcom, which was nominated because it is made at the BBC studios in Glasgow.

And in the writing category, Paul Laverty picked up the gong for the Ken Loach film The Angels’ Share.

Other winners at Glasgow’s Radisson Hotel included Gregor Fisher, who beat his Rab C Nesbitt co-star Elaine C Smith to take the prize for best TV actor.

And Billy Connolly was honoured with a BAFTA for Outstanding Contribution to TV and Film for his 50-year career.
