John Bishop to review the year
John Bishop is to present a comic round-up of the year’s news events for BBC One.
John Bishop’s Big Year will be a two-part stand-up show about 2012, including the Olympics, Paralympics and the Jubilee.
And it will mix news clips and comedy sketches with the monologue.
But – according to the Daily Mirror at least – he will steer clear of the Jimmy Savile controversy.
Bishop said: ‘At the end of every year newspapers and magazines often do a summary of the world in pictures reflecting back on the year just passed.
‘John Bishop’s Big Year is a much more alive version of those retrospectives - with footage from actual events interspersed with our very own comedy sketches and narratives, celebrating what has been a momentous year.’
It has been a big year for Bishop himself, too, as he embarked on his first arena tour; ran, cycled and swam from Paris to London for a Comic Relief fundraiser; and landed his own Sky One series in which members of the public will crack their own jokes.
