Another speeding fine for Omid
Omid Djalili has picked up another speeding fine – just a month after being banned for riding his moped without insurance.
He was caught driving his Lexus 450 hybrid at 61mph on the M4 in South Wales in January this year, where a 50mph limit was in place.
He was also driving without a licence, as he was banned in 2008 and never reapplied for a new one.
Prosecutor Andrew Perry, told Neath magistrates that Djalili sent the form back alerting him to the offence with a note saying: ‘Asking humbly for leniency - comedian driving to entertain troops. Swansea, Omid.’
But Mr Perry told the court that investigations did not find that any troops had been in Swansea – and that he was driving the wrong way.
In September, Djalili, 47, was fined £2,900 and disqualified for six months for driving without insurance and riding his moped illegally in a London cycle lane.
The latest case adds another three points to his licence, and cost him £1,350 in fines and costs.
