Charlie Murphy axes UK tour

Just 10 days before start

American comic Charlie Murphy has cancelled almost hall of his UK tour, just over a week before the first date.

The stand-up – best known as Eddie Murphy's brother – has been due to play Glasgow, London, Manchester and Birmingham.

But the plug has unexpectedly been pulled on all the gigs, except Glasgow, with little information why.

Promoter AEG Live issued as statement saying only: 'Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Charlie Murphy Acid Trip shows have been cancelled. Full refunds are available from point of purchase.'

Murphy, 53, has made no mention of the cancellations on his official website, Facebook feed or Twitter. His last Tweet on Sunday said: 'Just left the sky bar at the W hotel in Chicago they suck! Racist MF's in 2012. Don't they know that shits played out.'

He came to prominence as a recurring performer on Chappelle's Show, where he fronted a series of sketches entitled True Hollywood Stories. He has since made his own Comedy Central stand-up special and recorded sketches for digital network Crackle.
