Boy With Tape On His Face is named Fringe critics' favourite

The Boy With Tape On His Face was the best-reviewed show of the Edinburgh Fringe, according to new analysis of Fringe press coverage.

The mime act – aka New Zealander Sam Wills – scooped four and five-star reviews across the board for his show More Tape. In all, he averaged a 4.62 star rating.

He scooped the Edinburgh Comedy Award Panel Prize, designed for the act that best epitomises the spirit of the Fringe, although the size of his venue, the 700-seater Pleasance Grand, meant he was deemed too big a star for the main prize.

The show topped a list of the best-reviewed shows compiled by the British Comedy Guide from established publications such as Chortle and the national newspapers, as well as more obscure titles which publish lots of reviews, such as The New Current, Exeunt Magazine and Fringe Guru
