Brand told to do community service

..in iPhone damage case

Russell Brand has been ordered to do 20 hours of community service and pay a $500 fine after allegedly throwing a photographer's iPhone through a window.

His lawyer entered a not guilt plea in New Orleans Municipal Court – but the judge then said the case would be dismissed if the community work was completed.

It could be done in the UK or US, and the court will reconvene on August 31 to check on progress.

Brand was arrested and charged with criminal damage on March 15 after a photographer accused him of grabbing his iPhone and tossing it through a window, breaking the glass of a nearby office window.
