World premiere for Graham Chapman film

Animation selected for Toronto fest

A new animated film based on Graham Chapman’s autobiography is to receive its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

A Liar’s Autobiography: The Untrue Story of Monty Python’s Graham Chapman features the late comic reading his memoirs, with further contributions from his colleagues John Cleese, Terry Jones, Michael Palin and Terry Gilliam. Eric Idle is notable by his absence.

Jones – who plays Chapman’s mother in the 3D film – will introduce it to audiences in Toronto in September.

The movie has been made by 14 animation companies, each creating a different chapter in a distinctive style, ranging from three to 12 minutes.

Meanwhile, Stitches, the horror film which stars Ross Noble as a murderous children’s entertainer, will have its world premiere at Frightfest in London on August 24, before being released in cinemas just before Halloween.
