Coogan cleared in speeding case

Court accepts why he didn't name driver

Steve Coogan has been cleared in his latest motoring case.

The comic had been accused of failing to identify the driver of his Land Rover after a speed camera snapped it doing 39mph in a 30mph zone

Coogan told Brighton magistrates he was not able to name the driver within the 28 days allowed because it was a pool car used by up to 20 family and staff at his production company, Baby Cow.

After five ‘exceptionally busy’ months he remembered lending the car to pal Jodie Bailey, who was visiting the UK from Australia.

In a statement to the court she admitted being the driver, but said she was unaware of being flashed by the speed camera on Hove seafront on October12 last year.
