Johnny Vegas and a cartoon cow
Isy Suttie and Johnny Vegas are to voice a new children’s animation this Christmas.
The Cow That Missed Christmas comes from author Andy Cutbill, who has already written books such as The Cow That Laid An Egg.
The illustrator of those books, Russell Ayto, is working with the animation arm of comedy producers Baby Cow for the half-hour one-off, which will be shown on CBBC.
Baby Cow’s managing director Henry Normal said: ‘It’s the nativity story from the animal’s point of view – and a story adults can enjoy too, as it’s bonkers.’
The voices for the show are being recorded this week. Simon Greenall, recently seen as one of the commentators in Channel 4’s Pete Versus Life, is also involved.
It is one of several animation projects in the pipeline for Baby Cow, best known for shows such as Gavin & Stacey, Ideal and The Trip.
Morwenna Banks and Lisa Tarbuck will be voicing a feline adventure called Wussy Wat.
And Steve Coogan, who co-owns Baby Cow, is narrating another festive animation, Uncle Wormsley’s Christmas, for Sky Atlantic.
It features Julian Barratt, John Thomson and Julia Davis in a fable about a solitary old man whose only friend is a giant crab – and a spoiled rich by whose only Christmas dream is to get his hand on the crustacean.
