HBO orders more Veeps

Second series for Iannucci satire

HBO has ordered a second series of Armando Iannucci's political satire Veep.

Based on the same themes as The Thick Of It, the show stars Seinfeld's Julia Louis-Dreyfus as fictional vice-president Selina Meyer.

The first episode, which aired just over a week ago, attracted 1.4million viewers on first airing, and 3.7million over repeats and on demand. It said to be the premium cable broadcaster's 'most promising' comedy audience since Entourage, which ended last year.

Ten episodes have been commissioned for 2013, two more than in the current series.

The first series will air on Sky Atlantic in the UK fro next month.
