Gallagher suffers heart attack

US comic admitted to hospital

American comedian Gallagher has been rushed to hospital after suffering a ‘mild to serious’ heart attack before a gig.

The 65-year-old was preparing to go on stage at Hat Tricks club in Lewisville, Texas, last night when he collapsed.

His manager Craig Marquado, told the local TV station CBS 11 that the comic– known for smashing watermelons with a mallet – was having ‘very serious issues with his heart,’ and would be hospitalised for an extended period.

The comic suffered another minor heart attack almost a year ago to the day during a performance in Minnesota, where he collapsed onstage.
