Horrible Histories is comedy of the year
Children’s show Horrible Histories has been named the best comedy show of last year – beating the likes of Fresh Meat, Stewart Lee and Absolutely Fabulous.
But it was not such good news for Mrs Brown’s Boys, which was named both worst comedy of the year, and worst sitcom.
Readers of the British Comedy Guide alto heaped scorn on the animated Ricky Gervais Show (worst entertainment show), Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps (worst returning sitcom), Lee Nelson's Well Good Show (worst sketch show) and Celebrity Juice (worst panel show).
But faring better were the following winners:
Best new TV sitcom: Spy
Best returning TV sitcom: Absolutely Fabulous
Best radio sitcom: Cabin Pressure
Best TV sketch show: Horrible Histories
Best radio sketch show: John Finnemore's Souvenir Programme
Best TV panel show: Would I Lie To You?
Best radio panel show: The Unbelievable Truth
Best TV entertainment show: The Graham Norton Show
Best radio entertainment show: French & Saunders (R2)
Best comedy-drama: Fresh Meat
Editors’ Award: Sky, for its new commitment to making comedy
The winners were chosen from more than 340 TV and radio comedy shows that aired in 2011.
